I Don't Get the Flu Shot

A little back story for you all. Something like 9 years ago a friend asked me to come learn about essential oils. I bought a welcome pack and started using them here and there. Definitely not religiously or with routine. I liked the smells and felt like they helped with different things here and there. Through the years I got a bit more into them especially with my knee surgeries and handling pain management but then about 4 years ago I got sick more times than I could count in a winter season. I had gotten a flu shot but still wound up with it a couple times. The next year I got another flu shot and while I was sick less I still got sick and decided enough is enough. I decided I had enough with the pharmaceutical companies in the USA and it was time I completely switch over to only using holistic/homeopathic medicines. 3 years ago not only did I stop using any OTCs within a year after that I also stopped using anti-perspirants and chemically made perfumes.

How I did it? I started by listening to my body.  No more ibuprofen to mask my ailments from pushing my body to hard. Instead I used essential oils and arnica gel to cure swelling and help ease the pain. But most importantly I backed off the activity and let my body recover. I started sleeping more and I quit drinking. Im not saying you need to quit drinking and that'll solve your problems but let me tell you if you get injured or you're sick, drinking is only going to make you worse, not better.

The next thing I did was I went to the health food store and started asking questions. My friend worked there at the nutime and recommended I try these supplements called Wellness Formula. All winter long I take about 3 a day to maintain a healthy immune system. When you feel like you're getting sick you bump that up to 6 twice a day.  Yes, that's 12 a day and you go through a lot but, you're working with your body not masking the symptoms. You're making your immune system stronger. Through the last couple years I also found that echinacea through flu season also helps aid your immune system and sambuccol syrup helps when you're starting to get sick or are already sick. I do these in conjunction with putting my thieves oil on my feet and spine, I put drops of lemon oil in my water and I use peppermint oil under my nose if I'm congested or have a stuffy nose. There's loads of homeopathic medicines you can buy for cold and flu if you do end up contracting something. I've tried Oscillicoccinum, old indian wild cherry bark syrup, and steam baths with eucalyptus oil to name a few different from above.

The reason people don't think holistic and homeopathic remedies work is usually just as simple as they don't take it often enough. This isnt like dayquil or ibuprofen where you take a dose and your good for 6 hours. Some remedies require redosing every hour or 4. It depends on what it is just follow the instructions.

Lastly, I started seeking out herbal teas from a local massage therapist for different ailments. If you have an herbalist in your area or a holistic doctor you can ask them which herbs to use for your different symptoms. I'm telling you it works. You can't just try it once and base your opinion off that. It takes time to get your immune system stronger but you'll notice when you get better faster if you do get sick or everyone is sick around you and you don't catch it. Take it from me, I'm pregnant and working in Japan with kids, and I have gotten 1 cold so far that laid me out for 1 day. I didn't get a flu shot this time either.
